What's Up Guys,
I recently identified two different mindsets I seem to bounce between as I build my brand and continue to push myself at the gym.
I call them the "Journey Mindset" and the "Honeymoon Mindset".
The honeymoon mindset is basically anytime I fall into focusing too much on any future outcome as a source of motivation for what I need to do here and now. It gives the sense that there's some point in the future where things will be easier, there will be more comforts, and I wont have to work as hard. Alex Hormozi calls this an outcome-based work ethic. I found that anytime I stray into this mindset my productivity and work ethic drops and my sense of entitlement increases followed by frustration.
In the honeymoon mindset, you have something to loose, namely whatever that future hope is. You can be leveraged away from your path anytime you have bad day and the future doesn't look so bright.
The Journey Mindset makes you invincible. Its when you make the daily building blocks the end goal, knowing that they only lead to more success. Its much more difficult to stray from the path because you're already at your destination in a sense. When David Goggins talks about 'taking souls' he's talking about this. you cannot be leveraged away from the path because the challenge is your destination. While training with my brother recently he summed it up well: "find your home in it".
If you can fight to stay in the Journey Mindset, you will be unstoppable.
Rooting for every one of you.
Dan.
Never Doubt.
